Managing VMware Fusion and Workstation in My VMware

Purpose

This article provides information about managing VMware Fusion and VMware Workstation in My VMware.

Resolution

 

To update your My VMWare profile:

  1. Log in to My VMware.
  2. Click the arrow beside your name and click Profile:


     
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Update all appropriate fields.
  5. Click Save.

Note: Do not use PO numbers in any profile fields. Please ensure you completely fill out your profile information and the billing address on your profile is the same as your credit card billing address. This ensures the purchase completes in time without any issues.

Purchasing an upgrade

To purchase an upgrade:

  1. Log in to My VMware.
  2. Click Store link at the top bar.
  3. Hover over Upgrades and select the product.
  4. Click Add to Cart.
  5. Click to expand the account and select the license key.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Select the payment method.

To evaluate VMware Fusion or Workstation:

  1. Log in to My VMware.
  2. Hover over Products tab and choose My Evaluations.
  3. Click Start an Evaluation.
  4. Click VMware Fusion or VMware Workstation.

Downloading VMware Fusion

To download products:

  1. Log in to My VMware.
  2. Click Products & Downloads > View All Downloads.
  3. In the Desktop & End-User Computing menu, click VMware Fusion or VMware Workstation.
  4. Click View Download.
  5. Select a download binary.

Registering licenses

  1. Product registration occurs automatically at the time of purchase for all VMware products. The license keys will be available in your My VMware account.
  2. If the licenses are purchased recently and you do not have them under your account, please contact your SU/PC.
  3. VMware Fusion and VMware Workstation purchased online do not require manual registration. However, if the product was purchased through a reseller, register your product on My VMware to get complimentary support.

To register licenses:

  1. Log in to My VMware.
  2. Hover over Products tab and choose Product Registration.
  3. Enter your license key(s). You can include up to 50 license keys and register them all at the same time.
  4. Click Continue.

You can activate your Fusion or Workstation software without registering the license keys. For more information on complimentary support, see Registering for complimentary support in My VMware (2016092).

Filing a Support Request

To file a Support Request:

  1. Log in to My VMware.
  2. Hover over Support and click on Get Support.
  3. Choose an option from the Technical dropdown.
  4. Choose the correct account from the dropdown.
  5. Select the product for which you are filing the Support Request and click Continue.
  6. Provide a problem description.
  7. Review the list of Knowledge Base articles to determine if they resolve your issue.
  8. If the Knowledge Base articles do not resolve your issue, click Continue Support Request.
  9. Add any additional notes, if appropriate.
  10. Click Send Request.

Viewing license keys

To view license keys:

  1. Log in to My VMware.
  2. Hover over Products and click on License Keys.
  3. If you are associated with multiple accounts, choose the appropriate account from the dropdown at the top of the page.
  4. Select one or more license key folders.
  5. The products contained in those folders display in the right pane. Select a product to view the license keys.
  6. Select a license key to view the license key.

Upgrading license keys

To upgrade licenses:

  1. Log in to My VMware.
  2. Hover over Products and click on License Keys.
  3. Select Upgrade License Keys from the I want to dropdown.
  4. Select a license key folder. All products that are eligible for upgrade are displayed.
  5. Select a product, then select the license key.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Select the quantity of licenses you want to upgrade.
  8. Indicate that you have read and understood the warning, then click Confirm.

Downgrading License keys

VMware Workstation Pro 14.x license keys can be downgraded to Workstation 12.x

VMware Fusion 10 and VMware Fusion 10 Pro can be downgraded to Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Pro, respectively.
