Printing supplies such as toner, imaging drum, fuser and transfer belt need to be replaced when they are low or depleted. The display panel on the printer will indicate when items are running low or nearing end of life. A message will follow when a replacement is required. The item should be replaced as soon as possible to ensure print quality.
The printer fuser consists of two heated rollers that bond toner onto the paper. It is a consumable item that will have to be replaced after printing approximately 100,000 letter/A4 pages.
The display panel will indicate that the fuser unit is near the end of its working life with a “Fuser Unit Near Life” message.
When the fuser unit has reached the end of its working life and needs to be changed, the display panel message will show “Change Fuser Unit.”
Warning: Avoid burns from the heated fuser unit. Be careful to not touch it when the unit is hot from printing. Always use the handle to lift it.
Toner, the powder that is fused to the page to form text and images, is stored in a sealed cartridge for each color in the 4-color printing process: cyan, magenta, yellow and black.
Toner life is about 15,000 letter/a4 pages. The cartridge should be replaced after the message [color] toner lowappears on the menu display.
After replacing a toner cartridge you should clean the LED heads with the LED lens cleaner that is enclosed with each replacement toner cartridge.
The DP50S and DP50P both ship with starter cartridges that yield 10,000 pages for Black and 8,000 pages for each Color based on 5% coverage. A complete set of full yield toner is also shipped with the DP50 printers. Black Toner cartridge yields 20,000 pages and each CMY Toner cartridge yields 16,000 based on 5% coverage.
